About Me
Photography is a personal service so here's a little bit about me
Hello, my name's Carrie. Nice to meet you. I've been an 'artist' ever since I could throw paint on paper. I have been lucky enough to have been exposed to music and culture growing up and found alot of inspiration in the form of Madonna. When I was in my early teens, my mum encouraged my interest in photography...so I did. I started with portraits of friends in my bedroom using a desk lamp and sheet, went on to do a city & guilds evening class at 14 and then did band photography for all the rock dudes at school. I had my first album inlay/cover for a thrash metal band when I was 16. My parents would make Christmas presents photography related including a portable studio kit and a darkroom set up in our downstairs toilet. It was only right that my education followed the path I wanted to walk and I pursued qualifications upto and including university level. After uni I tried to get placements to develop my career with no luck. I was offered regular work experience at MTV and went 3 times but the costs of going to London were too much on a temps wage and I didn't feel this is where I could progress or learn. I got a little lost in the world in badly paid temping and retail jobs but when my passion came back, it came back with a BANG! I started my professional career (2008) by setting up a studio at thelatelounge nightclub. Luckily the demand was enough to invest in office space. My very first office was cold, the roof leaked and it smelt of damp dog. I wasn't here for long before finding Newgate Lane. I've been very lucky with my career in the fact I work hard to promote myself. This has been invaluable with networking around Mansfield and has also given me the opportunity to get involved within my community.
